Because I've been talking to some older married people I know, and even them who've been married over 5 years are on the verge of divorce, and their problems reminded me a lot of you and Hector. You're just so young, and Hector is just so bad for you. I worry about you having a marriage like your mom's, stuck with a person who doesn't deserve you and most certainly doesn't treat you right. You've shown remarkable loyalty, determination, and...there's a word...means basically you made a vow and you've been working hard to keep it. I don't think Hector has the emotional capacity to be an equal partner in your marriage, and I think that if he hasn't learned after all this time, after hurting you countless times, after you forgiving him like a saint again and again, that he needs to change drastically...some people don't get better. I can tell my dad a million times how he could better, and he'll still be him. My father's been doing the same thing for thirty years, first with his first wife, then my mom, and now he's met a woman as bad as he is. Thirty years of priests, psychologists, and his own daughters pleading with him hasn't done much. Hector is a young, stubborn boy - yes, boy - who has enlisted in a stringent, controlling atmosphere, but hasn't shaped up. And I'm afraid that in thirty years he'll be doing the same shit he is now.
